POLICY & FUNDING DEVELOPMENTS A judge blocked the U.S. Department of Education from laying off special education staff, temporarily halting layoffs at the department and other agencies which would affect dozens of programs and more than 250 civil rights staff. States are cutting Medicaid provider payments ahead of anticipated federal reductions. Disability rights groups express concern over accountability assessment waivers. The DOJ has shelved ADA rulemaking on digital accessibility, pausing regulatory progress.

LEGAL DEVELOPMENTS The Supreme Court will weigh how intellectual disability is defined, a case with major implications for services and protections. An investigation examines the high-stakes battle over vaccine injury compensation, autism, and public trust.

RESEARCH & HEALTH INSIGHTS A study finds that GI issues are very common in kids with autism, highlighting important health connections. Harvard researchers say there's likely not really an autism epidemic, attributing rising numbers to better awareness and diagnosis. Questions arise about whether extended time on tests actually helps students with ADHD, examining accommodation effectiveness. Experts discuss replicating autism research to ensure scientific validity.

POSITIVE DEVELOPMENTS A university will create the first-of-its-kind institute for those with intellectual disabilities, expanding higher education opportunities.

Why Do Special Education Programs Choose Ultimate Workout and Recovery (UWAR)?

The equipment works for every student regardless of physical ability or mobility level. The resistance band system allows for safe, controlled movements that build strength and confidence while reducing anxiety and promoting mental wellness. Teachers report that UWAR helps combat the three biggest challenges in special education: physical atrophy, depression, and obesity.
