A:
Nature-Based Learning Take learning walks where kids identify plants, count objects, or practice letter sounds with things they find. Create outdoor scavenger hunts that incorporate math problems or vocabulary words they need to practice.
Movement + Academics Set up outdoor stations with chalk activities like hopscotch math (jump to the right answer) or sidewalk spelling where kids write letters/words with chalk and then hop on them. Use playground equipment for counting, measuring, or storytelling.
Water Play Learning During water play, practice measuring cups for math concepts, have kids describe what they observe for language development, or create water "experiments" that teach basic science concepts.
Garden Learning Plant seeds and track their growth with measurements and observations. This naturally incorporates science, math (measuring, counting days), and writing (keeping a garden journal).
Outdoor Art & Writing Encourage nature journaling where kids draw and write about what they see. Use natural materials for art projects that can connect to academic themes you're working on.
You deserve resources that make your job easier, not harder. NASET members gain new skills and save time with our comprehensive content library, and exclusive discounts on certifications that advance your career. Stop reinventing the wheel every day.
